My favourite place is Sri Dalada Maligawa.

Sri Dalada Maligawa is the Temple of the Tooth where the left tooth relic of the Supreme Buddha is now housed. The present Temple of the Tooth is located in Kandy, Sri Lanka. During the Kandyan period. it was located in the then existing royal palace complex. The Temple of the Tooth was first built by King Wimaladharmasuriya I . The Temple of the Tooth built by him was destroyed by the Portuguese invaders.The present two storied dwelling palace was built by King Sri Weeraparakrama Narendrasinghe. Later, even the Nayakkar dynasty of Tamil kings improved and protected the Temple of the Tooth. The city of Kandy, where the Temple of the Tooth is located, has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.The monks of both Malwathu and Asgiriya offer offerings to the Tooth Relic daily. This pooja (theva) is performed three times a day (morning, noon and evening). The Nanumura festival is held on Wednesdays as a special offering. Here the Tooth Relic is symbolically bathed in fragrant medicinal water. It is believed that the water obtained from this bath has a healing effect.The Temple of the Tooth is a world-renowned shrine where the left tooth relic of Gautama Buddha resides. Every day special tributes are paid by local and foreign devotees and tourists from all over the world. The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, the crown jewel of all Buddhists around the world of cultural value, has architectural features, Kandyan features as well as ancient features.

The Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy is located near the Royal Palace near the Udawatte Jungle, east of the city of Kandy. To the north is the royal palace. To the south is the Milky Way or Kandy Lake. To the west are the Natha and Pattini temples. The Temple of the Tooth, which is a living creation, is adorned with carvings of silver, ivory and brass.Accordingly, it is the hope of all Buddhists to pay homage to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, the crown jewel of Buddhism, once or twice with great devotion.
