The University of Fine Arts that I had dreamed of
The University of Fine Arts that I had dreamed of
The Government College of Fine Arts was established in 1893 to incorporate art into the syllabus of the Ceylon Technical College. After the construction of permanent buildings in 1902, the number of students gradually increased. It was further developed and in 1933 the institute produced art teachers, artists, teachers of various arts and crafts, and artists required for service in the arts sector.
Among the artists who contributed to the development of the institute was the late J.P. D.A. Mr. Perera, the late Lionel Edirisinghe who made a great contribution to the field of music and Shri. Panibharathas who have done a great service to the dance sector should be remembered with respect.2005 07 01 The Institute of Aesthetic Studies was upgraded to a full university status by the Gazette Notification. Thus, the University of Aesthetics has a proud history.I am very happy to be a student of the Proud Aesthetic University, now a Government Recognized University.I also look forward to pursuing my studies in a way that adds respect to my university.
